CHOps Pro

Remote Cluster Management for ClickHouse® database

CHOps Pro includes Remote Cluster Management, a feature that lets you manage ClickHouse® database nodes even when the database process is unresponsive or completely down. When a node crashes, most admin tools stop working because they depend on the ClickHouse® HTTP interface. CHOps Pro keeps you in control.

A lightweight proprietary binary runs on each ClickHouse® database node. This binary communicates with the CHOps application over encrypted channels. Through this binary, you can view server logs directly from the filesystem, update ClickHouse® server configuration files, and start, stop, or restart ClickHouse® database services. All of this happens remotely from the CHOps web interface without SSH access to the node.

CHOps itself does not need to be installed on the ClickHouse® node. The remote agent is the only component that runs on the database server. It is designed to be minimal, secure, and always available regardless of the state of the ClickHouse® process.

What you can do with Remote Cluster Management

View ClickHouse® server logs from the logs directory even when the database is not running. This is critical during incident investigation when you need to understand why a node went down. Update ClickHouse® configuration files (users.xml, config.xml, and custom configs) without logging into the server. Start, stop, and restart ClickHouse® database services remotely with a single click. Manage nodes across multiple clusters and regions from one interface.

How it works

The CHOps remote agent is a small, self-contained binary that you deploy alongside your ClickHouse® installation. It establishes an encrypted connection back to your CHOps instance. All communication between the agent and CHOps is encrypted. The agent requires minimal resources and runs independently of the ClickHouse® database process, so it remains available even during outages.

Why this matters

In production environments, ClickHouse® database nodes occasionally become unresponsive due to out-of-memory conditions, disk pressure, configuration errors, or failed upgrades. Without Remote Cluster Management, operators must SSH into the server, navigate log directories, manually edit config files, and restart services from the command line. With CHOps Pro, all of this is done from the browser in seconds.
